I’ve been thinking a lot lately about if I could do anything what would it be? I’ve worked 14 years for a major retail company it has always been a job something to pay the bills until I can finally do what I really want. I was not able to return to my job after maternity leave because I ended up with a slip disk. Thankfully about a year and a half ago I got my Real Estate license. I like the IDEA of real estate. My husband and I have already talked about buying properties to flip or rent. So this ended up being a great idea. When I got my license I started to wean myself out of my other job. I was a department manager so when I say wean I started to cut back my hours and training my replacement and then the last month I gave up control let my replacement be the full blown boss but I was still there for incase something happened that we hadn’t gone over. January 2018 I quit that job and went to put some real time in Real Estate. I knew it was going to be hard but I didnt realized how hard. Both financially and in general getting business. I was a few weeks in when I realized I was pregnant! Hahahah I just quit my job that payed well and had insurance (double covered because hubby worked there too) and started a career in real estate a commission job that I had no real idea what I was doing or where to start. I gave it three months and then bit the bullet and went back to the job doing something else I had learned a lot in the years I was there and I could work 7 out of 10 departments there. Totally disappointed but will always do what I have to for my family.
Okay back to end of maternity leave and my job which is very very physical told me NO bring a note releasing me back (which wasn’t going to happen). Now I’m screwed what am I going to do I have a few at home jobs that I hadn’t worked while I was on leave. I could make a little bit of money from them but not enough for us to survive. I got a group email from my Broker saying the Property Management department is hiring. That they needed a Leasing Agent and that position is a Licensed Realtor position (things happen for a reason!). Hand shot up “oh me pick me!!!” Wait Hi Hello I’m a licensed Realtor. And I’m semi jobless! Anyways I interviewed and they picked me and it’s a great learning opportunity I love it and new things are coming from it. But, is this my dream?
I dont know about you but there are so many places around the world I want to see. But how can I afford it? Where to start? What to see? I follow so many travel pages on different social media sites and all that does is make my list of places even bigger! One of my favorite things I did was I became a Travel Agent. Now I get to learn all about travel. I can take classes from a travel vendor and I get great discounts when I book my trip. Yes I did just says I take free classes learn about travel and then I get discounts on my trips with that vendor! I also get to help my friends and family book their trip and get paid for doing it. Now you think I’m taking advantage of my friends and family and jacking up the price? Nope the prices already have a commission built into it. So there is no up-charge it mostly is the same price as they would find shopping them selves or I get them a better price and they have the benefit of someone else doing the work for them. I know what you are needing for your trip so there are no surprises and less stress.
The Dream. Call me crazy but I want to travel the world and I want to take my family with me! Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Maldives, Morocco, Switzerland, Dubai, and so many more. I want my boys to be well traveled I want them to enjoy as much as possible. I know as the littles they wont really remember but as they get older I want airplanes to be normal to them and not cause havoc while on them.
